A new approach to retrofitting an engine
A new approach to retrofitting an engine
When Aspenet was built in 1896 she was not fit with an engine and when IYRS rebuilt her in 2004 the job was done to the original specifications. When we assessed her for an engine installation we found that Aspenet’s sternpost is too narrow to accommodate a propeller shaft and quarter-mounted propellers are notoriously poor-handling. Our unique solution to this problem is an externaly mounted fiberglass shaft log. The result accomplishes optimal handling characteristics without compromising the structural integrity of the boat.
