Systems

Our systems specialists are experienced in a broad range of products and are always learning. Complex installations are completed cleanly, efficiently, and with interest in accessibility for long-term maintainance. We install a large volume of new electronics, generators, autopilots, refrigeration, watermakers, electric winches and more. We also maintain and repair existing systems with efficiency and attention to detail.

Mechanical

As a gold level Yanmar dealer we get better pricing on engines which means better pricing for you! Our purchase and installation charges are some of the most competitive in New England. We also maintain our 200 plus storage boats to the highest standards.

Carpentry

Our carpentry shop has two work bays with capacity to 65 feet. The work area is hot water heated and humidified. Machinery and tools range from a turn of the century band saw and many traditional hand tools to a state of the art tilting arbor, sliding table spindle shaper. Reconstruction and restoration require experience and understanding. As a wooden boat ages, the relationship of its parts change. To renew as original may not restore original strength and integrity. We have a broad range of experience in all aspects of wooden boats as well as rehabilitation of wood work on fiberglass boats.

Fiberglass

From custom-molded G10 engine beds to major hull and deck repair on boats of all sizes, our fiberglass work is executed cleanly, efficiently, and correctly. Our reputation may be for wood, but we service an equal number of fiberglass boats. We have a steady flow of glass projects 12 months a year.

Traditional Finishes

Our traditional brush applied paint and varnish shop owes much of its success in achieving dust free surface to the fact that its three work bays are hot water heated and humidified. Years of experience and willingness to try new materials keeps quality and efficiency at the highest levels. Our non-destructive method of restoring separated joints in painted and varnished structures can give finishes, especially brightwork, a new lease on life. Rehabilitation of aging brightwork requires a high level of skill in restoring the structure and often an equally high level of talent in arriving at the right color... sometimes the ability to simulate aging of the wood.

Sprayed Finishes

Our fiberglass restoration and refinishing facility overhauls basic structure as well as applying state of the art primers and topcoats. Choice of the right product has much to do with the success of the project over time. The 65 foot work bay is hot water heated and humidified. Spray equipment is the latest in HVLP technology and beyond... offering environmental benefits as well as a superior finish.

Many shops resist the new technology because it poses challenges in achieving the best finish. However, it also offers benefits.

There are many different formulas of coatings available. One may be harder than another, one may be more easily repaired and maintained, yet another may be more suitable for application over softer substrates. Ask us about the selection process.

Rigging

Our rigging department’s experience and attention to detail will meet your needs. Our efficiency will keep costs to a minimum. We manufacture rigging “in house” and can swage up to 5/8” wire. The crane’s 80’ extension puts most vessels under 65’ well within our serviceable range and our boom truck is a very efficient option for stepping and unstepping smaller rigs. Our Spring and Fall inspections are thorough. All of our winter storage for spars and rigging is under cover.
